Hyundai Motor Company's 'IONIQ 5 N' has been selected as the '2024 Electric Vehicle of the Year' by the US automobile magazine Car and Driver.
With this, Hyundai Motor Company has been honored with the Car and Driver 'Electric Vehicle of the Year' award for the third consecutive year.
Car and Driver conducted a rigorous three-week evaluation of 18 electric vehicle models, and the IONIQ 5 N beat out 17 competing vehicles to be selected as the best electric vehicle.
K. C. Colwell, editor-in-chief of Car and Driver, praised the car, saying, "Hyundai Motor Company has won the Electric Vehicle of the Year award for the third consecutive year, and it is an electric vehicle that provides a true enthusiast experience, just like the G-Model Porsche 911 Club Sport of the 80s."
The IONIQ 5 N is the first high-performance electric vehicle of the N brand that maximizes driving performance and driving fun by concentrating Hyundai's advanced electrification technology. It is equipped with various high-performance electric vehicle N-specific technologies such as a high-power battery with a capacity of 84 kWh, a high-performance all-wheel drive system, and a high-performance EV-specific thermal management control system.
A Hyundai official said, "We are very honored and feel a great sense of accomplishment that the IONIQ 5 N, which redefines the joy of electric vehicle driving by introducing high-performance electric vehicle-specific functions such as N e-Shift and N Green Boost, has been recognized by Car and Drive."
Based on its unrivaled marketability, it has accumulated various awards and is setting a new standard for global high-performance electric vehicles.
