‘Just two months after launch?’ BMW, Korean car selected as ‘British Car of the Year’ rather than Volvo

The British Car of the Year is selected by a panel of 30 judges, mainly automotive journalists based in the UK, who evaluate and vote on vehicles released within the past 12 months.

The EV9 was selected as the best car in the large crossover category in the first round of this award, and ultimately received the honor of being selected as British Car of the Year, beating out other prominent cars.

The UK is a country with more interest in eco-friendly vehicles such as electric vehicles than anywhere else in Europe, with the proportion of eco-friendly cars based on electric vehicles among registered cars reaching 36.5% (as of 2023), and the EV9 has risen to the top spot in the UK. This is a noteworthy result.

John Callen, co-chairman of the British Car of the Year Awards, said, "It is a car that is attractive and reliable enough that almost half of the judges in this review chose the EV9 as the 2024 British Car of the Year." “Not only has the biggest factor of anxiety been lowered, but space utilization is good, so I think it will be able to attract premium SUV drivers as well.”
