We will apply Waymo's 6th generation fully autonomous driving technology 'Waymo Driver' to Hyundai Ioniq 5 and operate the vehicle for the autonomous taxi service 'Waymo One'.
The Ioniq 5 supplied to Waymo will be produced at 'Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America', an electric vehicle-only plant located in Georgia, and Hyundai plans to support the growth of the 'Waymo One' service through stable supply and operation.
The two companies aim to conduct initial road tests of Ioniq 5 vehicles equipped with 'Waymo Driver' starting in late 2025 and make them available to 'Waymo One' service users within a few years.
