Hyundai Motor Group, which surpasses Porsche, recruits Manfred Harrer to lead the development of the Taycan

Hyundai Motor Group has decided to recruit world-class talent to strengthen its competitiveness in luxury and high-performance vehicle research and accelerate the transition to electrification.

Vice President Manfred Harrer will take on the important role of overseeing the development of Genesis and vehicle performance technologies at the R&D headquarters of Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Motors, leveraging his experience leading research and development while working at Porsche and Apple.

Vice President Manfred Harrer is an automobile expert with extensive experience in everything from chassis technology development, electronic system and software development, and project management at leading automobile brands such as Audi, BMW, and Porsche for approximately 25 years since 1997.
In particular, while working at Porsche, he led the development of internal combustion engine vehicles such as Porsche's main models, the Guyen and Boxster, as well as the development of Porsche's first electric vehicle, the Taycan.

 

In the future, Vice President Manfred Harrer is expected to contribute to accelerating Hyundai Motor Group's transition to electrification and lead the strengthening of the marketability of Hyundai Motor Group's overall vehicles, including high-performance vehicles.
